Hallie T. Parr

August 31, 1924 - July 3, 2018

Mrs. Hallie T. Parr of the New Columbus community of Owen County, KY. passed away Tuesday, July 3 at the home of a granddaughter in Sand Gap, Jackson County, KY. at the age of 93.  Mrs. Parr was born August 31, 1924 in Owen County, KY. to the late Ben Beckham and Lorena Wright Beckham.  Mrs. Parr was a homemaker and farmer and was a former storekeeper.  Mrs. Parr had a lifelong love of the outdoors and along with the farm work she enjoyed watching the birds and tending to her garden.  Mrs. Parr enjoyed sewing, cooking for her family, music and she enjoyed visiting with family and her many friends in the community.  Mrs. Parr was a long time member of the New Columbus Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parr was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Parr on May 27, 1998 and by a daughter: Beverly Simpson and by grandchildren: Ashley Temple and Sherry Simpson.

Mrs. Parr is survived by a daughter: Judy McKenney and her husband Howard of Corinth, KY., by a son: Victor Parr and his wife Debra of Corinth, KY., a sister: Daisy Parsons of Corinth, KY., a brother: Richard Beckham and his wife Faye of Corinth, KY., 6 grandchildren: Kristi Gillispie, Jason Jones, Kasie Taylor, Victoria Lewis, Jennifer Rader and Cecil Simpson, Jr.  She also has 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hallie T. Parr will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday, July 8 at the New Columbus Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Vincent and Rev. David Foley officiating.  Special music will be provided by Mrs. Faye Prewitt.  The visitation will also be at the church on Sunday, July 8 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.  Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County.

Those serving as pallbearers will be: Eddie Dempsey, Clinton House, Steve Simpson, Richard Beckham, Roman Gillispie, Coleman Gillispie, Larry Taylor, Jason Jones and Jed Davis.
