Betty Jo Smith

May 16, 1946 - May 5, 2018

Betty Jo Smith , 71, of Elsmere, KY passed away Saturday May 5, 2018 at her residence. She was the wife of Roy Smith; he survives. Born in Wolfe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charles Oscar and Josie Halsey Lawson.

Betty was united in marriage to Roy Smith on December 14, 1963. She graduated from Gallatin Co. High School and was the manager for St. Vincent DePaul Ministries until her retirement in January of this year. She was also a member of the Sherman Full Gospel Church in Sherman. Betty will always be known and loved for her wonderful cooking skills, her quilting and her love for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, Roy, include three sons: Doug Smith of Glencoe, KY, Garrett Smith of Mt. Zion (Jericho), KY, Jamie Smith of Williamstown, KY; one sister: Eunice Brewer of Campton, KY; two brothers: Willard Lawson and Walter Lawson, both of Verona, KY. Nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister: Virgie Story and three brothers: Robert Lawson, Charlie Lawson and Billy Lawson.

Visitation will be Thursday May 10, 2018 at Sherman Full Gospel Church located at 3185 U.S. Hwy 25   Dry Ridge, KY 41035 from 11:00 – 2:00.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Rev. Gayliss Gaines officiating. Burial will be in the Napoleon Cemetery.
