Mrs. Karen Hughes King, a Dry Ridge resident, passed away at her residence on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the age of 56. She was the wife of Douglas P. King.
On March 22, 1962, Mrs. King was born in Covington, KY to Mary “Cutie” James Hughes and the late Thomas Hughes. She was united in marriage to Douglas P. King in 1986. From this union was born, and survived by, one daughter, Erin Hughes-King Marksberry (Ronald) of Dry Ridge, KY, and one son, Logan D. King of Dry Ridge, KY. In addition to her husband and mother, Karen is survived by two sisters, Kimberly J. Hughes of Dry Ridge, KY, Angela D. Hughes McClure (Tom) of Dry Ridge, KY, two grandchildren, Sydney Raquel Marksberry and Bailey Ann Nichole Marksberry.
Mrs. King was a member of the Sherman Baptist Church, where she was in charge of the kitchen committee as well as the WMU. She was a former 37 year employee of Cengage Learning of Independence, KY, she loved to work in her flower garden, loved to camp and most importantly, loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5-8pm at the Elliston – Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11am. Rev. Dave Tucker will be officiating services. Burial will follow in the New Vine Run Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY. Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
