Naomi Ruth Shivers

December 30, 1927 - December 2, 2017

Mrs. Naomi Ruth Shivers of Owen County, KY. passed away Saturday, December 2 at the home of her son in Lawrenceburg, KY. at the age of 89.  Mrs. Shivers was born December 30, 1927 in Owen County, KY. to the late Wilford F. Smith and Leathie Ellen Glass Smith.  Mrs. Shivers worked for many years as a waitress and at one time owned a restaurant in Cincinnati.  She was a long time faithful member of the New Columbus Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked with the Girls in Action.  Mrs. Shivers could always be found in the church kitchen any time there was any gathering at the church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shivers was preceded in death by her husband, William Shivers.

Mrs. Shivers is survived by a son: Larry D. Smith and his wife Debbie of Lawrenceburg, KY., 1 brother: Ernest "Buck" Smith and his wife Sarah of Georgetown, KY., 2 grandchildren: Charity Joanna Newton of Panama City, FL. and Dale Ruth Smith of Gilbert, AZ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Ruth Shivers will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, December 7 at the New Columbus Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Vincent officiating.  Music will be provided by Mrs. Gladys Poe and those serving as pallbearers will be Talmon Schidecker, Mike Lee, Johnny Smith, Mike Smith, Tommy Scott, Bradley House.  Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Doug Smith, Omer Lee and Talmon Perkins.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6 at the New Columbus Baptist Church from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.  Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County.

Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the New Columbus Baptist Church.
