Marie Shelton Ackman

May 16, 1925 - October 16, 2017

Marie Shelton Ackman was born May 16, 1925 in Greensboro, NC and passed away October 16, 2017 in Williamstown, Kentucky at the age of 92.  She was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Minnie Ola Swaim Shelton.

On April 17, 1949 Marie was united in marriage to John Lane Ackman, Sr, who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1981.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: John Lane Ackman, Jr. in 2010.

She is survived by a son: David Ackman of Dallas, GA; a daughter-in-law: Melissa M. Ackman of Louisville, KY; and 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Marie was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church where she served as the Church Organist and Choir Director for 52 years. She also lovingly served her church as a Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Board, and as the president of the United Methodist Women in the Covington District.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Williamstown United Methodist Church, 206 Paris St., Williamstown, KY 41097.  Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery.
