James Ray Pennington

James Ray Pennington of Dry Ridge, KY was born May 12, 1922 in Moultrie, GA and died Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Edgewood, KY at the age of 95.

He was the son of the late John L. and Mattie Barbara Browning Pennington. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Fairview Christian Church. James was preceded in death by his three siblings, Reba Cruse, and John and Ed Pennington. On November 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to his wife Mary Sophia Cavins Pennington.

In addition to his wife of 66 years Sophia, also surviving is 1 son, James David (Pamela Lynn) Pennington of Dry Ridge; 1 daughter, Connie Rae (Rev. Wayne) Pennington Rice; 5 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, with burial to follow in the Williamstown Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm Wednesday, May 24 at the funeral home.
