Willena Lonkard

July 23, 1919 - February 20, 2017

Willena Ruth Simpson Lonkard was born in Williamstown, Kentucky on July 23, 1919 and passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospice on February 20, 2017 at the age of 97.  She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mabel See Simpson.

On July 27, 1936 Willena was united in marriage with Elmer "Jiggs" Lonkard who preceded her in death on April 24, 2006.  She is survived by four sons: Layle Lonkard, Larry W. (Jackie) Lonkard, Richard A. Lonkard and David Lonkard, all of Williamstown; five daughters: Mabel Doolin of Dry Ridge, Ruth Ann Cheek of Erlanger, Jane (Mike) Cornn of Williamstown, Margery (Virgil) Tritschler of Corinth and Donna (John) Frueh of Williamstown; one sister: Maxine Brown of Williamstown and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Debora Wessel; brothers: Kenneth Simpson, Buford Simpson, Donald Simpson, Billy Frank Simpson and Eugene Simpson; sisters: Irene Link and Lily Mae Kinmon; daughters-in-law: Linda Lonkard and Mary Lonkard and a granddaughter: Rhonda Barnes.
Mrs. Lonkard was a member of the Grassy Run Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the decorating committee and the hospitality committee.  She remained a member of the Heekin Homemakers and enjoyed traveling.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth Hospice.
