Ruby Whitis Edwards

June 22, 1933 - August 24, 2015

Ruby Whitis Edwards, of Verona,was born in Langnau in Laurel County, Kentucky on June 22, 1933 and passed away at the Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, Kentucky on August 24, 2015 at the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late Newton and Margaret Feltner Whitis.

On August 16, 1952, Ruby was united in marriage with Jesse Edwards, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2006. From this union three sons were born: Tim Edwards and his wife, Deborah of Huntsville, Alabama, Jeff Edwards and his wife, Angela of Cordova, Kentucky and Greg Edwards and his wife, Sheila of Dry Ridge, Kentucky. In addition to her loving sons, Mrs. Edwards is survived by her sister, Fannie Brewer of Lexington; five grandchildren: Kristina Raybourne, Timothy Grant Edwards, Ross Alexander Edwards, Sara Nicole Edwards and Kyle Mitchell Edwards; five great grandchildren: Destiny Nichole Sims, Taylor Sims, Shelby Raybourne, Jesse Edwards and Deacon Edwards; and many other relatives and friends.

Ruby was a longtime member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona where she served as Chair of the Kitchen Committee, member of the Reapers Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. She was the Cafeteria Manager for the Walton - Verona Elementary School for many years.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY. Memorials contributions may be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church or the Army Emergency Relief Fund.
