Gilbert Whalen

August 14, 1928 - July 22, 2015

Gilbert Whalen was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky on August 14, 1928 and passed away at his residence in Dry Ridge on July 22, 2015 at the age of 86. He was the son of the late John and Bertha Fryman Whalen.

On June 17, 1949, Gilbert was united in marriage with Georgia Hamblin who preceded him in death on September 6, 2008. Mr. Whalen is survived by his daughters: Pamela (Joseph) Serpico of Woodridge, Illinois and Peggy (Cecil) Jackson of Crittenden; sons: Douglas (Peggy) Whalen of Dry Ridge, Danny (Kathy) Whalen of Falmouth and Timmy Whalen of Dry Ridge; sister: Emma Garrison of Cynthiana; 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. One daughter, Patricia First died on January 12, 2013.

Mr. Whalen was a member of the Gumlick Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00PM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY. Memorials are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Hospice.
