Paul R. Black, 79, of Verona passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood.


He had been a painter for the L&N and CSX Railroads for twenty eight years. He was born in Redhouse, KY in Madison County to the late Everette Blackand Mae Edwards Black Sturgeon; was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona; member of a Masonic Lodge and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a huge Nascar fan, enjoyed golfing, guitar, carpentry and woodworking.


Survivors include his wife of fifty two years, Joan Biddle Black of Verona; three daughters, Tarina (Todd) Goldsberry of Richwood, KY, Teresa (Dean) Black Tolliver of Dry Ridge, Bobbie Jo Black of Verona; a sister, Billie Jean Leek of Verona and a grandchild, Taylor Bergfeld.


Visitation will be 5-9pm, Friday, March 30th with funeral service 11am, Saturday, March 31st at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092. Burial will be in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.


Memorials are suggested to the New Bethel Baptist Church Mission Trip Fund or Building Fund, 2022 Verona-Mudlick Rd., Verona, KY 41092.
