Marcus Samuel (Sam) Leming

January 9, 1943 - June 14, 2011

Sam Leming, 68, of Independence, KY passed away Tuesday, June 14 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, KY following a long illness.

He was a native of Williamstown and served as an airplane pilot for over twenty years for Bowlin Construction Co., Walton, KY and Crescent Paper Tube Co., Florence, KY. He was also a former service man for Owen County RECC for over seventeen years. He was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church, Grant Lodge #85 F&AM, Ducks Unlimited and Airplane Pilots Association. Mr. Leming played string instruments with his family and others for many years for personal enjoyment as well as for other events.

Preceded in death are his parents, Marcus Samuel and Ruth Elizabeth Dahling Leming and a brother, John E. Leming.

Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Arva Ireland Leming; two sons, Paul A. (Terry) Leming of Crittenden, Michael C. (Kate) Leming of Independence; one brother, Carl Allen (Buzzy) Leming of Union; one sister, Jo Anne (John) Gillespie of Florence and seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, Cassie and Samantha Leming, Taylor, Kinley and Ellie Wilkerson.

Visitation after 10am Friday, June 17 with funeral service at 1pm, Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 500 North Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery.
