Zelma Frances Beach Shinkle, 83 of Verona died Monday, March 28th at her residence. She retired after thirty one years as an English teacher at Gallatin County High School. She was a member of the Beaverlick Baptist Church in Union, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, choir member and WMU member. She was also a member of the Gallatin County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Rev. Walter L. "Buck" Shinkle, a sister, Opal Collins and grandson, James Craig Shinkle. Survivors include one daughter, Conte Flowers of Verona; three sons, Rev. Monte Shinkle of Jefferson City, MO, James R. Shinkle, Joel "Joe" Shinkle of Verona; one sister, Wilma Lee Perkins of Owenton; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 with funeral service at 11am, Wednesday, March 30, 2011 (vistiation after 10am) both at the Beaverlick Baptist Church, Union, KY. Burial will be in the Napoleon Cemetery, Gallatin County, KY. Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092 is handling the arrangements.
