Jesse Bailey Sr

September 13, 1943 - December 21, 2009

Jesse Bailey, Sr. was born in Sky, Kentucky in Breathitt County on September 13, 1943 and passed away at his home in Sparta, Kentucky in Owen County on December 21, 2009 at the age of 66. He was the son of the late Alvis Clay and Rhunie Jackson Wilson Bailey.

Jesse is survived by his children: Jesse Lee Bailey, Jr. (Patty) of Dry Ridge, KY, Regena List (David) of Crittenden, KY, Charlan Jacobson (Richard) of Lowell, IN, Melissa Weidman (Mike) of Crestwood, KY, Tonya Kloek (Daniel) of Louisvile, KY, Desiree Hinsley of Georgia, Daniel Bailey of United States Army at Ft. Campbell, KY, Jordan Bailey of Nashville, TN and Mackenzie Bailey of Nashville, TN; his brothers: Deford Bailey (Sondra) of Verona, KY, David Bailey (Louise) of Warsaw, KY, Verlin Bailey of Napoleon, KY, Darryl Bailey (Tessie) of Kentucky, R. J. Bailey of Napoleon, KY and Billy Ray Tollson of Southbend, IN; his sisters: Nadine Wright of Elliston, KY, Odessa Riley of Dry Ridge, KY, Faye Harvey of Elliston, KY and Vaida Singleton of Florence, KY; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam where he was seriously wounded. He overcame his injuries to become a well known and respected Martial Arts Instructorand competitor. He was a member of the Regional Sports Karate Association Hall of Fame. Jesse was a World Record Holder in the Benchpress for the age of 60 with the Son of Light Weightlifting Association. He was a member of the Verona Lodge #876 F. & A.M. and a Kentucky Colonel. He was baptized at the South East Christian Church in Louisville, KY.

Mr. Bailey was a loving father and friend who will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
