Willis Maxwell Workman, of Dry Ridge, was born in Brooksville, Kentucky on May 2, 1923 and passed away at his residence on November 13, 2009 at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Willis and Letitia Ishmael Workman.


Max was united in marriage with the former Elsie Ruth Franks on October 23, 1946. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2009. From this union one daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Ann Fisk of Cold Spring, KY and two sons, Gary L. Workman of Frankfort, KY and Bruce Wade Workman of Butler, KY were born. In addition to his loving children, Mr. Workman is survived by one brother, Ralph Ewing Workman of Dry Ridge, KY; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was one of nine children.


Mr. Workman was a member of the Dry Ridge Christian Church, a member and former board member of the Owen County Rural Electric Cooperative, a member of the Grant County Cattleman's Association, a former member of the Crittenden Lodge #694 F. & A. M., and Chairman of the Grant County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a former meat cutter with the I. G. A. Foodliner in Dry Ridge, KY and was a lifelong farmer.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown. Memorials are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Hospice.
