Betty M. Barnes, a Williamstown, KY resident, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital-Edgewood on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the age of 89.She was preceded in death by her parents, W. J. Bryan and Stella Roedeger Barnes.


Ms. Barnes was a former Chemistry Research Technician at University of Rochester Medical School and a School Teacher in Renfield, NY. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, a longtime former member of the Baptist faith and current member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, former member of Williamstown Homemakers, a member and past president of Williamstown Woman''s Club, member of Grant Co. Historical Society, member of Capt. John Lillard Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, a former volunteer at Williamstown Women''s Crisis Center, a former tutor of the Grant Co. Literacy Program and in 2009 was named to the Williamstown High School Wall of Fame.

She is survived by her son, Dennis A. (Candace) Risen of Pepper Pike, OH, her daughter, Barbara (Dan) Reisenauer of West Chester, OH, four granddaughters, Lisa Reisenauer, Laura Reisenauer, Amy Risen, and Jennifer Chapman, and two sisters-by-choice, Mary Louis Mitts Evans of Winchester and Edna P. Risen of Williamstown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main Street, Williamstown. Visitation will be Saturday, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.Burial will follow at the Williamstown Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to Grant County Historical Society or Williamstown Women''s Crisis Center, 141 N. Main Street, Williamstown.
