Millard James "Jim" Blackney

Millard James "Jim" Blackney of Dry Ridge, KY was bornAugust 20, 1929 in San Diego, CA and died Monday, May 5, 2014 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Grant County at the age of 84.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Helen Stanage Blackney, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a retired Civil Service Program Analyst for the U. S. Air Force. On August 6, 1977 Jim was united in marriage to Evelyn "Sue" Covey Blackney, he was an avid fisherman, golfer, craftsman, gardener, and he was former Dry Ridge City Council member. In Jims younger days he was also a volunteer EMT and firefighter, as well as a wildland firefighter.
Jim is survived by his wife of 36 years Sue; 2 sons James Raymond "Jim" Blackney of Rhome, TX and Steven Dale Blackney of Wichita Falls, TX; 1 daughter, Gay Lynn Blackney Doerre of Burkburnett, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Services for will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Jim''s memory are suggested to: The Dry Ridge Fire Department, or the American Cancer Society.
