Harry "Gene" Newby, a Florence, KY resident, passed away at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the age of 81.

A retired truck driver with Pennsylvania Truck Lines, Gene was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.

He is survived by two daughters, Virgie (Mark) Love of Erlanger and Phyllis Newby of Florence, 4 grandchildren, Eric Love, Danny Trumble, Jr., Nicholas Love, and Kaylee Newby, and 9 great grandchildren.

Mr. Newby was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynda Byrne, his father, Zeany Newby, his mother Provy Parish Newby and several brothers and sisters.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 240 Whittington Parkway, Louisville, KY 40222.
