Eva Doris Hightower was born in Cordova, Kentucky in Grant County on January 4, 1920 and passed away at the Westover Retirement Community in Hamilton, Ohio on November 16, 2013 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Carter Odor.
On August 9, 1940, Doris was united in marriage with Dawson Edward Hightower who preceded her in death on June 26, 1975. From this union two children were born and survive: Victor N. Hightower of Fairfield, Ohio and Sue Sands of Fairfield, Ohio. In addition to her loving children, Mrs. Hightower is survived by 3 grandchildren: Clayton Hightower, Sr., Trenton Hightower and Leah Mason; 5 great grandchildren: Clayton Hightower, Jr., Hannah Hull, Jerry Hightower, Julianna Mason and Hailey Rose Hightower. Two sisters: Verlie Draper and Beulah Collins both previously died.
A member of the Kentucky Education Association and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, Mrs. Hightower was an elementary teacher in the Kenton County School system at White's Tower Elementary. A graduate of Corinth High School and Northern Kentucky University, she was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Pleasant Run Christian Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hightower will be 2:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY. Visitation will be at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 PM on Monday. Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Colonial Employee Assistance Fund, 855 Stahlheber Rd., Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
