Helen Poor Ammerman was born in Locust Grove in Pendleton County, Kentucky on April 9, 1920 and passed away at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Grant County in Williamstown, Kentucky on September 25, 2014 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Jabez Clay and Della Gertrude Wilson Poor.
On April 12, 1947, Helen was united in marriage with Herbert Ammerman who preceded Helen in death November 4, 1996. From this union, one son was born: Douglas Ammerman. In addition to her loving son, Doug and his wife, Mona of Dry Ridge, Mrs. Ammerman is also survived by grandchildren: Chris Ammerman of Dry Ridge and Ashlee Caldwell of Williamstown; great grandsons: Tucker Ammerman, Braxten Caldwell, Ainzley Caldwell and Cooper Ammerman. She was the last of a family of five. Her brothers and sisters were: Agnes Beach, Woodrow W. Poor, Ralph Poor and Mildred McClanahan.
Mrs. Ammerman was a longtime member of Williamstown Baptist Church and retired from the Cincinnati Bell company where she worked as an operator. She began her career with the Citizens Bell Telephone Company in Williamstown.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery, Williamstown, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamstown Baptist Church, 214 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097.
