Mary Alice Pugh Whalen

April 8, 1927 - March 28, 2009

Mary Pugh Whalen was born on April 8, 1927 in Crittenden, KYto the late Willard and Mabel Plunkett Pugh. Mrs. Whalen a Williamstown resident, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, KY at the age of 81. She was the widow of Frank Whalen.

Mrs. Whalen is a past member of the Taylor Mill Methodist Church and worked as a secretary in the mortgage and loan banking industry most of her adult life.She was a past employee of 5/3rd Bank. Some of her hobbies and interests included sewing, making quilts, and crafts.

She is survived by one son Samuel Dale Whalen of Port Arthur, TX, one daughter Sandra Kay Caldwell of Birmingham, AL, two brothers Rev. Robert Pugh of Florence, KY, James Pugh of Phoenix, AZ, two sisters Christine Hicks and Emogene Smoot, both of Crittenden, KY, one Grand-daughter Molly Newland of Lexington, and two Great Grand-daughters Andrea and Isabella Newland of Lexington.

Mrs. Whalen was preceded in death by her sister Velma Reed.

Mrs. Whalen will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whom knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 11am-1pm at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden, KY. Funeral services will follow at 1pm. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House of Charities, 550 South 1st. St., Louisville, KY 40202.
