Oscar William Bell was born in Brookville, Kentucky in Bracken County on February 22, 1937 and passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY on January 28, 2009 at the age of 71. He was the son of the late Richard and Mollie Crawford Bell.
On March 16, 1979 he was united in marriage with the former Bernice Orsborne Brumback. In addition to his loving wife, Oscar is survived by a daughter: Lou Ann Clayton and a stepson: Thomas Brumback both of Frankfort, KY. Oscar is also survived by 5 sisters: Gladys Bush of Newport, Helen Poland of Washington State, Esther Gottfried of Seymour, IN, Pauline Hawn of Florence, KY, and Betty Turner of Indianapolis, IN; 3 brothers: Richard Bell of Covington, KY, Robert Bell and Ronnie Bell, both of Florence, KY; four grandsons and many other relatives and friends.
Oscar worked for many years with the L & N Railroad as a member of the Wreck Train Crew where he operated a crane and later drove a fuel truck. Mr. Bell was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church andthe American Legion. He was a Kentucky Colonel. Oscar served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 - 8 PM at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Thefuneral will be 2:00 PMSunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY.
