Leslie Richard "Dick" Courtney

March 19, 1936 - August 21, 2016

Leslie Richard Courtney, Sr., resident of Crittenden, was born in Scott County, Kentucky on March 19, 1936 and passed away at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 21, 2016 at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Boyd and Ruby Haley Courtney.

Mr. Courtney is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kat" Tackett Courtney, 2 sons: Boyd Courtney of Orlando, KY and Leslie Richard "Rick" Courtney, Jr. and his wife, Flora, of Crittenden; 1 daughter: Donna Sue (Courtney) Jacks of Crittenden; 2 brothers: Charles Courtney and his wife, Linda, of Crittenden and Jerry Courtney and his wife, Debbie, of Crittenden; 2 sisters: Peggy Ammon and her husband, Dr. John, of Petersburg and Diane McNeely and her husband, Dan, of Petersburg; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Dick, as he was widely known, was preceded in death by a daughter: Kathy Courtney Steel and a brother: Ben Courtney.

Retired from the W. R. Grace Company of Cincinnati where he was a chemical operator, Dick returned to his full time job and first love of farming. He owned and operated a tree farm near his home. He had served in the United States Air Force until he received a medical disharge and was a graduate of the Walton-Verona High School.

The funeral services will be held at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Road, Verona, KY 41092 on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The burial will immediately follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY.
