Ruby Alene Simpson Vallandingham was born in Kentucky on October 21, 1934 and passed away at the Florence Park Care Center in Florence, Kentucky on January 6, 2016 at the age of 81. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Clayton and Thelma Marie Fortner Simpson.


On October 11, 1952, Ruby was united in marriage with Sturlin Glenn Vallandingham who preceded his wife in death on January 5, 2012. Mrs. Vallandingham is survived by her two daughters: Donna (Jim) Cheesman of Williamstown and Ginger (Gary) Greer of Crestwood; one brother: Sam Simpson of Albuquerque, NM; four sisters: Glada Richardson of Williamstown, Karen Simpson of Lexington, Betty Brewer of Dry Ridge and Freddie Bosse of Dry Ridge; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.


A son, David Glenn Vallandingham died in 1954 while Sturlin served in the U.S. Army in Ft. Riley, Kansas. A brother, Marvin Kline Simpson died May 30, 1955.


An active member of the Williamstown Baptist Church, Ruby was well known by many people in the community because they had been cared for during their early years either at her home or in the church nursery. She was a graduate of the Crittenden High School.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North, Williamstown. Memorials are suggested to the Williamstown Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.
