Bernard Ray Hammond of Williamstown, KY, was born May 26, 1937, in Owen County, KY. He passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, in Edgewood, KY, at the age of 71.

Bernard was the son of the late Herbert VastyHammond and Nora McCain Hammond Clifton. He was retired house maintanance employee for Contenental Webb Presses in Richwood, KY, and a member of the Victory Baptist Church, in Owenton, KY. Bernard was united in marriage to Clara Ann McCormick Hammond on June 6, 1986.

In addition to his wife, Bernard is survived by 3 sons, Herbert Matthew "Bubby" Hammond and Thomas Hammond both of Dry Ridge, KY, and James Allen Young of New Columbus, KY; 6 daughters, Bernadine Pickett of Williamstown, KY, Nita Renfro of Dry Ridge, KY, Sheila Baker of California, KY, Rita Roberts of Warsaw, KY, Ann Marie Bruin of Falmouth, KY, and Kimberly Sue Owens of Berea, KY; 18 Grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Larry Hammond of Sparta, KY, Leo Hammond of Florence, IN, William Clifton of Pennsylvania, and Clarence Clifton of Cleveland, OH; and 1 sister, Anna New of Owenton, KY.

Funeral services for Bernard will be 2:00pm Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, in Williamstown, KY. Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY. Visitation for Bernard will be 5:00-9:00pm Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the funeral home.
