Joyce Shanklin

April 15, 1932 - January 3, 2009

Nelma Joyce Shanklin, resident of Walton,was born in Taulbee, Kentucky on April 15, 1932 and passed away at the Hospice Care Center of Northern Kentucky in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky on January 3, 2009 at the age of 76. She was the daughter of the late Hobert L. and Goldie Marie Lykins Davis.

Joyce's first husband, Marshall Stephenson,passed away in 1974 and her second husband, Kenton Shanklin died in 1984. She is survived by two sisters: Sharon Arrasmith of Florence, KY and Debbie Atha of Verona, KY; two brothers: Gray Davis of Covington, KY and Ohlen Davis of Verona, KY; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Two brothers preceded her in death: Lowell Davis and Artis Davis.

Mrs. Shanklin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walton, Kentucky and retired in 1988 from the Western Southern Life Insurance Co. as an Assistant Supervisor after 35 years.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton - Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until services at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
