Douglas Rufus Wood was born in Williamstown, Kentuckyon Oct. 15, 1923 and passed away at his home in Williamstown on Dec. 22, 2014 at the age of 91.He formerly owned and operated Dry Ridge Lumber and Hardware.
A member of the Williamstown Methodist Church, Mr. Wood was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II.He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Gilliamson Wood; his sons: Paul (Krista Lynn) Wood of Paducah and Steve (Teresa) Wood of Williamstown; his daughters: Mary Beth Wood of Ypsilanti, MI and Melissa (Dave) Schwiegeraht of Dry Ridge; his stepson: William Carl (Sherry) Wood of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Noon, Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097.Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to the Grant County Animal Shelter.
