Estill D. Mitts, resident of Dry Ridge,was born in Covington, Kentucky on May 12, 1919 and passed away at St. Elizabeth Grant County in Williamstown, Kentucky on December 17, 2014 at the age of 95. He was the son of the late Benjamin Greeny and Stella Turner Mitts.
Mr. Mitts was united in marriage with Joyce Adkins who preceded him in death. He is survived by his son: Estill D. Mitts of Los Angeles, CA; his daughters: Joyce (Russ) Burgess of Ormond Beach, FL and Betty (Lee) Stephens of Dry Ridge; his brother: Jack Mitts of Florence; his sister: Marge Meyer of Newport; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
A member of the Walton United Methodist Church, Mr. Mitts was a Trouble Supervisor for the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company for over 42 years. He was a radarman for the United States Navy and served on the USS Bunker Hill during World War II. Mr. Mitts enjoyed fishing and woodcarving in addition to traveling cross country in his camper. For several years he collected pipes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 132 S. Main St., Crittenden, KY 41030 with visitation also on Saturday from Noon until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY. Memorials are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Home Health Hospice or the Fairhaven Rescue Mission in Covington.
