Jesse D Colson Sr

November 24, 1919 - November 3, 2014

Jesse D. Colson, Sr. was born in Keefer, Kentucky in Grant County on November 24, 1919 and passed away at his residence in Keefer on November 3, 2014 at the age of 94. He was the son of the late William Perry and Anna Bell Dean Colson.

Jesse was united in marriage with Mendola Joy Taylor on April 25, 1942. From this union seven children were born: Jesse Colson, Jr. of Owen County, Terry Colson of Holbrook, Ronald Colson of Mt. Zion, Sharon Beach of Mt. Zion, Robert Colson of Holbrook, Otha Robin Colson of Corinth and Angie McLafferty of Williamstown. In addition to his loving wife and children, Mr. Colson is survived by two sisters: Libby Bowman of Keefer and Patty Simpson of Crittenden; 27 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Three brothers, Harry Colson, Johnny Colson and Joe Colson and four sisters, Loyal Epperson, Wilma Arthur, Imogene McAdams and Evelyn Cole all preceded Jesse in death.

A lifelong member of the Antioch Church of Christ, Mr. Colson was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Navy. He was a farmer and a foreman for the Foley Construction Company who did road construction.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery.
