Charles Anthony Flachs, Sr. resident of Lawrenceville Community in Grant County, was born in Bayshore, New York on December 6, 1940 and passed away at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Grant Co. in Williamstown, Kentucky on December 8, 2008 at the age of 68. He was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Marie Klee Flachs.


On August 15, 1964, Charlie was united in marriage with the former Joan Marie Gsell. From this union three children were born: Charles Anthony Flachs, Jr., Kimberly Anne Newman, and Andrew Paul Flachs, all of Dry Ridge, KY. In addition to his loving wife and children, Mr. Flachs is survived by one brother: Frank Flachs of Denver, New York; one sister: Betty Hartwell of Blue Point, New York; 10 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.


Mr. Flachs retired from the Kentucky State Police as a State Trooper in 1985 after more than 16 years. He later worked with Noble's Truck Stop in Corinth and Wal Mart in Dry Ridge, KY. He was a member of the St. Williams Catholic Parish in Williamstown, KY and a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.


Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM Friday at the St. Williams Catholic Church, 8 Church St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. til 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the church and again from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown, KY. Memorials are suggested to the St. Williams Youth Group, c/o St. Williams Catholic Church. Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, KY is in charge of arrangements.
