Gayle Martin was born in Corinth, Kentucky in Grant County on September 4, 1926 and passed away at the Grant Manor Health Center in Williamstown, Kentucky on November 12, 2008 at the age of 82, He was the son of the late Clarence and Virgie Martin.
Gayle was united in marriage with the former Nadinea Kinman Martin on September 4, 1958 who preceded him in death on October 11, 1997. Mr. Martin is survived by one sister: Catherine Godman of Cynthiana, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and many other firends and relatives.
Mr. Martin was a former member of the Corinth Methodist Church and a founding member of the Corinth Fire Department where he served as chief, secretary and treasurer. Gayle served as a city councilman and as Corinth City Clerk. He was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed being a Square Dance Caller. He served his country as a Private First Class Military Policeman in the United States Army during World War II. He had beenan employee of the Sprague Meter Company in Owenton, KY, the Crouse-hinds Electric Co., and MacGregor Sporting Goods Corporation before finally working for the Grant County Board of Education. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be held 4 - 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial wil be in the Eckler Cemetery, Corinth, Kentucky. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grant County"Relay for Life" campaign.
