Walter "Buck" Shinkle

June 13, 1929 - October 15, 2008

Walter Leo "Buck" Shinkle was born on June 13, 1929 in East Bend Bottoms in Boone County, Kentucky and passed away at the St. Luke Hospital West in Florence, Kentucky on October 15, 2008 at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Edward Nelson and Mary Frances Smith Shinkle.

On January 23, 1951 Buck was united in marraige with the former Zelma Frances Beach. From this union three sons: Rev. Monte Shinkle of Jefferson City, MO, James R. Shinkle of Verona, KY, Joel "Joe" Shinkle of Verona, KY and one daughter: Conte Flowers of Verona, KY were born. In addition to his loving wife and children Bro. Shinkle is survived by one brother: Donald E. Shinkle of Crittenden, KY; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Bro. Shinkle was a longtime minister of the Beaverlick Baptist Church and the Gardnersville Baptist Church. He was the former owner and operator of the Walton Concrete Company and the Walton Lumber Company. He continued his longtime passion as a farmer on his Cold Valley Farms.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at the Beaverlick Baptist Church in Union, KY at 11:00 AM with visitation on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the church. Burial will take place in the Napoleon Cemetery in Gallatin County, KY. Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home of Verona, KY is in charge of arrangements.
