Arthur John Gear Jr

June 30, 1930 - December 20, 2015

Arthur John Gear, Jr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 30, 1930 and passed away at his home in Williamstown, Kentucky on December 20, 2015 at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Arthur John Sr.and Helen G.Bross Gear.

Mr. Gear is survived by his wife, Ruth Roto Gear, two daughters: Sue Nan Stine of Highland Heights and Diana Gear of St. Petersburg, FL, one son: Arthur Gear III of Dry Ridge; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Gear's first wife, Carol passed away in 2000 while ason, Steve passed away earlier.

Art was well known throughout Grant County as the deliverer of the Grant County News. He was an avid flyer of remote control airplanes which he also built. He had owned his own plane that he flew as a licensed pilot and had once owned an ocean going boat that he cruised throughout the Gulf of Mexico. He was a licensed Ham Radio Operator whosefirst love was prospecting. He loved to search in many remote areas such as Alaska and Colombia for Gold and Jade. He often made these into jewelry. Although he was not a veteran, he was proud of the fact that he had served in the CIA.

The memorial service for Mr. Gear will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 7980 Napoleon - Zion Station Road, Dry Ridge, KY 41035. Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097 is in charge of the arrangements.
