Roy Kenneth "Shag" Martin, resident of Williamstown,was born in Crittenden, Kentucky on August 1, 1916 and passed away at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Grant County in Williamstown, Kentucky on April 11, 2013 at the age of 96. He was the son of the late William Francis and Ona Dell Crosthwaite Martin.


On September 6, 1944, Shag was united in marriage with Stella Marie McClanahan. From this union two sons were born: Roy C. Martin of Williamstown and Bill Martin of Edgewood. In addition to his loving wife and sons, Mr. Martin is survived by two grandchildren, Nicole Trimpe and Nathan Martin. He was the last of a family of seven children.


A veteran of the United States Army during World War II, Roy was a farmer and a former employee of Northern Kentucky Production Credit Association. He was a Deacon of the Dry Ridge Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Robert P. McLachlin American Legion Post in Williamstown.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Dry Ridge Christian Church Building Fund 13 School Rd., Dry Ridge, KY 41035 or the St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 South Loop Rd., Edgewood, KY 41018.
