WILLIAMSTOWN - Wanda Lowe Austin, 85, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Grant Co. She was the widow of Homer Lee "Bud" Austin and the daughter of the late Richard Sparks and Nannie Mae Stone Lowe.
Mrs. Austin was a Williamstown High School Graduate and the first Majorette in the Willamstown High School band. She was employed by the Bank of Williamstown upon graduation from high school. Mrs. Austin began Selective Service in 1953 retiring in 1977.
She then began work at T.C.I. where she remained faithfully until the time of her death, doing what she loved, not only helping her son, Dick, but also keeping everyone in line at the shop. Mrs. Austin was a faithful member of the Williamstown Christian Church, the Grant Co. Historical Society, and a member of the former Carlsbad Garden Club.
Mrs. Austin is survived by one son, Richard Lee Austin and his wife Nancy Sims Austin, daughter Penny Lowe Austin Lawrence and her husband, John C. Lawrence, grandchildren Gina Austin Smith, Christopher Sparks Lawrence, Andrew Dawson Lawrence, great - grandchildren Jack Austin Smith, Nash Warner Smith, Georgia Kate Smith, Bridgette Danielle Lawrence and Morgan Elizabeth Lawrence, all of Williamstown, KY, a special niece Connie Martin of Independence, and many more nieces and nephews. Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Dawson Lowe, Emerson Lowe, and Robert Dalton Lowe.
Visitation for Wanda will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 5 - 8 pm at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Funeral Services for Mrs. Austin will be Wednesday, at 11:00 AM. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Williamstown Cemetery, Williamstown, KY.
