Eula Jean Coyle was born in Keene, Kentucky in Jessamine County on September 28, 1912 and passed away at the residence of his daughter in Warsaw, Kentucky in Gallatin County on August 30, 2009 at the age of 96. He was the son of the late Clarence Andrew and Mary Ellen McCoy Coyle.


On April 16, 1949, he was united in marriage with the former Gwendolyn Rose Sturdivent who preceded him in death on November 23, 2004. From this union two daughters: Evelyn Matthews of Warsaw, KY and Barbara Grote of Petersburg, KY; four sons: Eula Jean Coyle, Jr. of Ghent, KY, Eddie Coyle of Verona, KY, Donnie Coyle of Verona, KY and Bobby Coyle of Verona, KY survive. A daughter, Mary Rose Coyle died at the age of 9 months. Jean is also survived by two brothers: Felix Coyle of Punta Gorda, FL and Andrew Coyle of Florence, KY; one sister: Mary Elizabeth McCourt of Toledo, OH; twelve grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and many other relatives and friends.


Mr. Coyle was a member and deacon of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona, Kentucky. He was a lifelong farmer and was a railroad mail handler at the Cincinnati Union Terminal for over 18 years.


Funeral services for Mr. Coyle will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 2022 Verona - Mudlick Road, Verona, KY 41092. Visitation will be at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton - Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, September2, 2009and at the church from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the New Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY.
