Donald Edward Shinkle

September 5, 1935 - September 21, 2013

Donald Edward "Champ" Shinkle was born Sept. 5, 1935 in Covington, Kentucky and passed away Sept. 21, 2013 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 78. He was the son of the late Edward Nelson and Mary Frances Smith Shinkle.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother: Walter "Buck" Shinkle and his two sisters: Dorothy Williams and Williametta Shinkle.

He is survived by two sons: Mark (Joyce) Shinkle of Florence, KY and Chris (Feleena) Shinkle of Dry Ridge, KY and five grandchildren.

At the time of his passing, Don remained a faithful member of the Glencoe Baptist Church. He was an avid UK fan and fisherman and was a member of the Ryland Angler's Club in Latonia. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired Concrete Salesman for Walton Concrete and IMI.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, Sept. 26, at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona. Visitation will be 4:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday. Burial will be in Napoleon Cemetery in Gallatin Co.
