Ottis Paul Lanter was born in Grant County, Kentucky on November 15, 1914 and passed away at his residence in Williamstown, Kentucky on August 27, 2013 at the age of 98. He was the son of the late Walter Mitchell and Emma Estelle Eskridge Lanter.
On December 23, 1950, Mr. Lanter was married to the former, Anna Sam Cassell who preceded him in death. From this union two sons were born: Paul C. Lanter (Julia) of Richwood, and Mark E. Lanter of Williamstown. In addition to his loving sons, Mr. Lanter is survived by a brother: Dr. Kenneth Elwood Lanter of Union and a sister: Emma Gene Biggs of Erlanger. One of ten siblings, Ottis outlived Darthy Wilhoite, Opal Norton, Ruth Chase, Clyde Lanter, Lee Lanter, Carl Lanter and Dawson Lanter.
A lifelong member of the Dry Ridge Christian Church, Mr. Lanter was a senior counselor with the American Bar Association, a life member of the Crittenden-Dry Ridge Masonic Lodge #694 F. & A. M., member of the Scottish Rite 32nd degree, Valley of Covington and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned his law degree and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a Staff Sargent. He practiced law for over 50 years and was Commonwealth Attorney for several counties for 20 years. He retired from private practice in 2002.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097 with visitation at the funeral home from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dry Ridge Christian Church Memorial Fund, 13 School St., Dry Ridge, KY 41035.
