Mayme Wood

September 19, 1935 - August 15, 2016

Mayme Lee Snow Wood was born in Owen County, Kentucky on September 19, 1935 and passed away at the Grant Center in Williamstown, Kentucky on August 15, 2016 at the age of 80.  She was the daughter of the late Ulas and Maude Marie Jackson Snow and the stepdaughter of Kelly Lewis.  Mayme was united in marriage with Billy Franklin Wood on June 23, 1953 and who died in the line of duty as a Williamstown City Policeofficer on August 8, 1972.  Mrs. Wood is survived by two sons: Rick (Andra) Wood of Williamstown and Todd Wood of Williamstown; sister: Stella Mae Blackburn of Ft. Mitchell; brothers: Harold Snow of Covington, Delbert Snow of Covington and Howard Lewis of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son: Gary Lee Wood; sisters: Geneva Browning, Marie Davis, Elaine Knight and LInda Snow; and a brother: James Snow.  Mayme was well known as the owner and operator of Mayme Lee's Beauty Shop in Williamstown.  She later earned her L. P. N. Certification and worked with Dr. James Kelly.  She remained a member of the Williamstown Christian Church and was a former member of the Williamstown Order of the Eastern Star #301.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from Noon - 2:00 PM, Saturday.  Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to HOPE in Dry Ridge, Kentucky or the Williamstown Christian Church Building Fund.
