Mr. Buford Franklin Simpson, of Williamstown, KY. passed away Tuesday, March 22 at home at the age of 88. Mr. Simpson was born May 16, 1927 in Williamstown, KY. to the late William Simpson and Ada Green Simpson. Mr. Simpson was retired from Delta Airlines where he worked in various capacities including gate agent and had nearly 30 years of service with them. In his younger years Mr. Simpson graduated from mortuary college and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer and worked for funeral homes in Warsaw, KY. and Carrollton, KY. Mr. Simpson proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and at the time of his passing he was a member of the Mt.Olivet Christian Church. Mr. Simpson enjoyed UK basketball, fishing and he was an avid golfer. He also formerly bowled on the Delta Airlines Bowling Team. Mr. Simpson was a member of Grant 85 F & AM, he was a 32 degree mason with the Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite in Covington, a member of the Williamstown Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #301 where he served for many years as Associate Patron. Mr. Simpson is most fondly remembered by his wife and children for his love and devotion to his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Velma Evans and her husband Ward Evans.
Mr. Simpson leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Anna Frances Colson Simpson, 1 son: Dennis Simpson and his wife Cynthia of Sevierville, TN., 1 daughter: Teresa Wood and her husband Steve of Williamstown, KY., 2 brothers: Lawson Simpson and his wife Shirley of Williamstown, KY., Charles Simpson and his wife Carolyn of Georgetown, KY., He was blessed with 3 grandchildren: Anthony Wood, Timothy Wood, Christopher Franklin Simpson and 4 great grandchildren: Jonathan Wood, Samantha Wood, Grant Simpson and Owen Simpson.
Funeral services for Mr. Buford Franklin Simpson will be conducted 10:30 am Tuesday, March 29 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Visitation will be there on Monday, March 28 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY.
Those serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Taylor, Timothy Wood, Anthony Wood, John Bachman, Joey Bachman and Paul Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dennis Simpson and Steve Wood.
Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
