Ms. Nelba Frances Marksberry, of Florence, KY. and formerly of Sherman, KY. passed away Saturday, January 16 at the Grant Center Nursing Home in Williamstown at the age of 88. Ms. Marksberry was born November 20, 1927 in Dry Ridge, KY. to the late Kirby S. Marksberry and Carrie Kinman Marksberry. The Marksberry Family lived in the building known as the Sherman Tavern for many years, dating back to 1940. Ms. Marksberry was a retired supervisor for the Polk Co. and she had worked there for 49 years. She was a member of the Sherman Baptist Church and enjoyed tending to her garden. She will be most remembered by her family for her love and devotion to her family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed the outdoors and all types of flowers.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Marksberry was preceded in death by a brother: Edgar Marksberry and his wife, Lorraine Marksberry, by sisters: Margaret Beach and Dolly Marksberry, and by a nephew: Jerry Marksberry.
Ms. Marksberry leaves to mourn her passing a niece: Debra Marksberry of Cincinnati, OH., a great niece: Jamie Hart and her husband Adam of Cincinnati, OH., a great, great nephew: Little Daniel Hart of Cincinnati, OH. and her dear friends and long time neighbors, Roy and Lois Napier of Sherman, KY.
Funeral services for Ms. Nelba Marksberry will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, January 21 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be there on Thursday from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the restoration of the Sherman Tavern.
