Mrs. Irma W. Parks of Dry Ridge, KY. and the wife of Dr. Clay Parks passed away Tuesday, July 21 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. at the age of 75. Mrs. Parks was born October 21, 1939 in Walton, KY. to the late Bryan Rector and Mary Moffett Rector. Mrs. Parks was a registered nurse but most people knew her as a piano teacher and community volunteer. She was church pianist for over 50 years at Dry Ridge Baptist Church where she also taught children's Sunday School and worked faithfully in Vacation Bible School. She began a ministry outside of the church to kids in a local housing project that remains strong after 15 years. She was recognized by the Grant County Chamber of Commerce as Grant Countian of the Year in 2003. She served for many years on the Grant County Board of Health and the Northern Kentucky Board of Health. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Meadowview Housing Authority and the Spears Foundation Free Kitchen. The outpouring of cards, flowers, visits, and inquiries in her last days were a reminder of the many lives Irma had touched. Mrs. Parks leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 54 years, Dr. Clay Parks, 1 daughter: Dara Hale and her husband Mark of Ghent, KY., 2 sons: David Parks and his wife Carol of Nicholasville, KY. and Douglas Parks and his wife Michele of Suwanee, GA. She was also blessed with 9 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Irma W. Parks will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, July 25 at the Dry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Payton officiating. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Burial will be Monday in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, Williamstown, KY. Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the St. Elizabeth Hospice or the Dry Ridge Baptist Church. The Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home of Dry Ridge, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Irma W. Parks.
