Alverta Gifford

November 11, 1924 - June 6, 2015

Mrs. Alverta Colson Gifford, of Williamstown, KY. passed away Saturday, June 6 at home at the age of 90. Mrs. Gifford was born November 11, 1924 in Keefer, KY. to the late Jasper "Jack" Colson and Dora Mae Blackburn Colson. Mrs. Gifford was a homemaker and a member of the Williamstown Christian Church where she formerly taught Sunday school. Mrs. Gifford was preceded in death by her husband, Max Dee Gifford, Sr. on February 22, 2010. Mrs. Gifford will be remembered fondly by her family for her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. She grew up on a farm and her love for the farming life never left her. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially all types of flowers. She also had a special place in her heart for the Keefer Church. Mrs. Gifford leaves to mourn her passing 3 sons: Max D. Gifford, Jr. of Fairfield, OH., Lewis G. (Barbara) Gifford of Union, KY., Jim A. (Kathy) Gifford of Crittenden, KY., 3 daughters: Susan Gifford (Tony) Ginter of Crittenden, KY., Nancy (Mike) Duley of Crittenden, KY., Dianna Gifford of Dry Ridge, KY., 1 brother: Harold Gene "Peck" Colson of Corinth, KY., 4 sisters: Betty (Billy) Ellis of Corinth, KY., Frances (Frank) Simpson of Williamstown, KY., Martha Bachman of Williamstown, KY. and Rita Colson of Corinth, KY. Mrs. Gifford was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Alverta Colson Gifford will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, June 14 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be there on Saturday, June 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial will be in the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery, Keefer. Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the Antioch Church of Christ.
