John LeRoy Edmonson

Mr. John LeRoy Edmonson, of Covington, KY. passed away Monday, September 1 at home at the age of 85. John was born February 5, 1929 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Leslie LeRoy & Alice Mae Bartley Edmonson. John was a retired fork lift operator for Equitable Bag Company. He was a long time faithful and devoted member and deacon of the Garrard Street Church of Christ where he also served as song leader. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son: Wyatt Lee Edmonson and a granddaughter: Loni Yvette Barber. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Fred Edmonson and a sister: Gloria Edmonson. John leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 60 years: Mary Jean Ware Edmonson, 3 sons: Carl Leslie Edmonson of Florence, KY., Aaron Ewell Edmonson of Covington, KY. and Darran Todd Edmonson of Covington, KY., his adopted son: Dennis Sparks of Independence, KY., 2 daughters: Lila Yvette McDaniel of Corinth, KY. and Venessa Mae Edmonson of Covington, KY. John was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. John also leaves behind a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral services for John L. Edmonson will be conducted 12:00 noon Thursday, September 4 at the Garrard Street Church of Christ, 218 Garrard Street, Covington, KY. 41011 with Bro. Eric Snider officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, KY. Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the Garrard Street Church of Christ or to the St. Elizabeth Hospice. The McDaniel Funeral Home of Corinth, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. John LeRoy Edmonson.
