Mr. William Oakley Ratcliff of Corinth, KY. passed away Sunday, August 17 at home at the age of 86. Billy was born November 22, 1927 in Corinth, KY. to the late Lamon Ratcliff and Lelia Wright Ratcliff. Billy was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was also widely known for his many years of driving a water truck and hauling water to many residences in the area and he farmed most of his life. At the time of his passing Billy was a long time faithful and devoted member of the Corinth Christian Church where he served as an Elder. Billy was a former Sunday school teacher and a former member of the Corinth Lions Club. Billy is fondly remembered by his family for his appetite and his fondness for telling stories. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Ratcliff on December 19, 2012 and by a granddaughter: Allison Ratcliff. Billy leaves to mourn his passing a daughter: Veda Brown and her husband Rick of Corinth, KY., 2 sons: Billy Ray Ratcliff and his wife Marie of Naples, FL. and Kenny Ratcliff and his wife Tammy of Corinth, KY. Billy was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Billy Ratcliff will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, August 23 at the Corinth Christian Church with Rev. Kent Allender, Rev. Jason Brown and Rev. Quintin McNabb officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, August 22 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth. There will be additional visitation at the church on Saturday the hour before the service. Burial will be in the Corinth I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions if desired are suggested to the Corinth Christian Church.
