Mrs. Wanda Louise Matherly of Louisville, KY. passed away Sunday, August 11 at the Oaklawn Health & Rehabilitation Center in Louisville at the age of 88. Mrs. Matherly was born August 4, 1925 in Dry Ridge, KY. to the late Verner Ashcraft and Leora Blasingame Ashcraft. Mrs. Matherly was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she enjoyed being a homemaker and gardening. She formerly worked as a restaurant server and at the time of her passing she was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Pendleton County. She was the widow of the late Edward Matherly who passed away in 2005. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Matherly was preceded in death by a son: Ludy Gaunt, by a brother: Warren "Bugs" Ashcraft, by sisters: Freida Sanders and Gloria Turner and by a great grandson: Logan Michael Cheek. Mrs. Matherly leaves to mourn her passing a daughter: Bonnie Snow of Louisville, KY. a stepson: Steven (Cindy) Matherly of Louisville, KY., 1 sister: Barbara (Gary) Turner of Dry Ridge, KY., 1 brother: Howard Ashcraft of Dry Ridge, KY., 6 grandchildren: Monica (Steve) Howe of Dry Ridge, KY., Wendy (Nicole) Chase of Lancaster, PA., Lisa (Chris) Polanski of Wilmington, NC, Jason (Heather) Cheek of Niles, MI., Michelle Cheek and Misty McGuire both of Louisville, KY., 7 great grandchildren: Boston Howe, Lincoln Howe, John Matthew Hay, Ryan Hay, Kayli Rose Cheek, Hannah Gaunt and Sydney Decker. Funeral services for Mrs. Matherly will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, August 17 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home with Mr. Steve Howe and Rev. Jerry Summers officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 17 from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
