Mendola Lightner

Mrs. Mendola "Mandy" Lightner of Florence, KY. passed away Sunday, July 21 at the Colonial Heights Retirement Center in Florence at the age of 93. Mrs. Lightner was born in Grant County, KY. on June 4, 1920 to the late Annie Fortner Link and Frank Link. Mrs. Lightner was known affectionately as "Aunt Dude" to her family in Grant County. She was a retired manager for the White Castle Restaurant systems, primarily working in Covington and later in Florence. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her 5 sons and she enjoyed being around others. A strong work ethic was instilled in her at an early age. She enjoyed cooking and at the time of her passing she was a member of the Taylor Mill Seventh Day Adventist Church and was active in the Womens Ministries in the church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lightner was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and by a son: Ronnie Lightner. Mrs. Lightner leaves to mourn her passing 4 sons: Gary Lightner of Florence, KY., Robert (Jeanette) Lightner of Union, KY., Dan (Barb) Lightner of Florence, KY. and Johnny (Marsha) Lightner of Union, KY.,and a daughter-in-law: Kathy. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Lightner will be conducted 12:00 noon Wednesday, July 24 at the Antioch Church of Christ on Keefer Road, Corinth, KY. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Antioch Church Cemetery.
