Anita Mae Carnes

December 2, 1954 - May 19, 2013

Anita Mae Carnes, of Mt. Zion, passed away Sunday, May 19 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood at the age of 58. Anita was born December 2, 1954 in Covington, KY. to William B. Carnes and the late Ailene Sparks Carnes. Anita was the owner and operator of The Country Store in Mt. Zion where she operated it for 10 years. In previous years she was the secretary for the Grant County High School, she formerly worked for Farm Credit and the L & N Railroad. At the time of her passing, Anita was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was active with the Grant County Relay for Life. She enjoyed being with and spending time with her family. Anita leaves to mourn her passing a daughter: Courtney Wenning and her husband Marc of Independence, KY. 1 grandson: Aiden Wenning of Independence, KY., her father: William B. Carnes of Mt. Zion, KY., 3 sisters: Charlotte Henley of Frankfort, KY., Brenda Elliott and her husband Don of Mt. Zion & Becky Coldiron and her husband of Bill of Crittenden, KY., 2 brothers: Bruce Carnes and his wife Pam and Douglas Carnes all of Mt. Zion. Funeral services for Anita will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, May 24 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, May 23 from 4:00 - 9:00 pm. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Aiden Wenning Education Fund.
