George David Hedges, Jr., of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away on Tuesday, May 7 in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Grant County at the age of 82. Mr. Hedges was born August 31, 1930 in Erlanger, KY. to the late George D. Hedges, Sr. and Anna Kennedy Hedges. Mr. Hedges worked for 25 years for Points Standard Oil Station in Dry Ridge and in later life worked for CI Thornburg Co. in Lexington as a parts driver and secretary. At the time of his passing Mr. Hedges was a member and Elder Emeritus of the Dry Ridge Christian Church and a member and past master with Crittenden-Dry Ridge Lodge #694 F & AM. He served his community as a former longtime member of the Dry Ridge City Council and a former member of the Dry Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Williamstown #301 Order of the Eastern Star and the Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite in Covington, KY. Among his many interests Mr. Hedges enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Hedges leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 59 years, Norma Osborne Hedges, 2 daughters: Pam Hedges of Dry Ridge, KY. and Kim (Greg) Brockman of Dry Ridge, KY. and one grandson: Eric Brockman of Dry Ridge, KY. Funeral services for Mr. Hedges will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, May 11 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Rev. Wayne Barnett and Rev. Bob Silvanik officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with Masonic services at 7:30 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
