Kenneth William Estill Woodyard, of Owen County, KY. passed away Thursday, November 1 at his home at the age of 88. Mr. Woodyard was born February 29, 1924 in Harlan County, KY. to the late Clyde Woodyard and Mae Profitt Woodyard. Mr. Woodyard retired from Phillips Driscopipe in Williamstown, KY. where he worked in electrical engineering. He also farmed for much of his life. He was a longtime member of the Stonewall First Church of God and devoted his life to the service of the Lord. He proudly served his country during World War II as a tank commander in Europe and would occasionally assist in preparing meals for his fellow troops. He was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Post 24. Mr. Woodyard loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Woodyard was always willing to lend a hand or help someone in need. In addition to his parents, Mr. Woodyard was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Porter Woodyard, a grandson: Benjamin Wade Dunaway and a son in law: Gary Lucian Wright. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mr. Woodyard leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 66 years: Hazel Jones Woodyard. She and Kenneth were married September 13, 1946. He has 2 daughters: Barbara (Tom) Dunaway and Cynthia Kay (Charlie) Rudd all of Corinth, KY., 1 son: William Bryan (Tammy) Woodyard of Astor, Florida. He has 1 sister: Bessie (Fred) West of Ohio, 2 brothers: Bobby Woodyard of Indiana and Russell (Bonnie) Woodyard of Owenton, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He has 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Woodyard will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, November 4 in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth with Rev. Tom Denny and Rev. Gary Eden officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the New Columbus Cemetery.
