Louis Clifton "Bud" Conrad, of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Saturday, August 11 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Williamstown, KY. at the age of 87. Mr. Conrad was born December 5, 1924 in Dry Ridge, KY. to the late Clifford Conrad and Anna W. Simpson Conrad. Bud was a person who held many jobs in his life, but his last work was that of hauling water for Owen & Grant Counties. He was known as the "water man" to many people. For many years, Bud enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He retired in 1996 and gave up his motorcycle in 2003. Mr. Conrad was a farmer and former co-owner and manager of the Grant County Farm Supply in Dry Ridge. He was a founding member of the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department and he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Conrad was preceded in death by his first wife: Margaret Thornton Conrad and by a son: Louis C. Conrad, Jr. He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Troy Conrad, a granddaughter: Susan McClure, a stepson: Bill Samford, 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Mr. Conrad leaves to mourn his passing his wife: Sylvia K. Conrad. 1 son: David Conrad of Smyrna, TN., 1 stepson: Mark Kyle of Carrollton, KY., 2 stepdaughters: Geraldine Utz of Lexington, KY. & Mona Ammerman of Dry Ridge, KY. He has 2 granddaughters: Tracy Smith of Williamstown, KY. & Terri Woodyard of Dry Ridge, KY., 1 great grandson: Drew Combs. He has several step grandchildren & step great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Conrad will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, August 14 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Rev. Gene Hill and Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the Jonesville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
